| | | June 17, 2009 High Impact Drilling at Letitna
|
| | Hello Everybody,
I just arrived back in Canada from Albania and the trip was excellent. As you all know, we are currently drilling a very high priority target area in the Mirdita District called Letitna.
I have talked, in the past, about our belief that the Letitna area has very significant size potential. This potential is based, partly, on the following items of interest;
- A spectacular amount of hydrothermal alteration is present at Letitna
- There are multiple felsic domes in the area
- A number of very coarse, large fragments of pyroclastic rock (millrock) can be found at Letitna, with similarities to some of the large Canadian VMS deposits
- An abundance of rhyolitic lavas are present in the local volcanic section
- The presence of multiple stacked VMS lenses may indicate a strong and long lived mineralizing system was likely present during formation
I think that it is also important to realize that the geophysical Electromagnetic (EM) anomaly at Letitna, identified when Tirex flew Albania's first ever airborne geophysical survey is almost 2000m in length. Over the 2000m EM anomaly, many drill sites have been set in this high impact area and assays from the initial holes being drilled are expected soon.
